“ Yes, I love this place. This is real Spainish food. I walked past it for months and finally went for lunch. I'm kicking myself for not being here sooner. I will be back soon. If you are a tourist and don't like crowds, go ahead and pass. This place is great. ”
“ Amazing! We came for lunch- fab service, great atmosphere, fab wine ( red from a huge 6L bottle decanted) and great fresh food - full of locals and history. Buzzing at lunchtime. We had scallops, prawns, tempura sardines, gorgeous. We asked about an interesting portrait on the stone walls, it was Domingo Villar, an author who came in regularly and wrote crime fiction. Currently reading his book Death on a Galician Shore starring an inspector who comes into Taberna Eligio regularly and seems to like it as much as we did! Highly recommended. Great Taberna, great book as well. ”
“ Food so good we went back! We came across this place somewhat randomly after the queue to our hotel recommended venue was too long. The food was amazing, especially the Pulpo. The best any of us had ever had. So much so, we went back two nights later. It was fully booked, and we were about to be turned away when our waitress from the previous night noticed us and convinced the manager to make a plan. Again we feasted. The Iberian pork cheeks are top notch as well. The staff are delightful, and very tolerant of our progressively more broken Spanish as the evening progressed. We were even greeted like old friends when the owner popped in as we were leaving the second time, he too recognizing us. Absolutely fantastic! ”
“ An Absolute Gem in Vigo! Taberna Eligio io is a must-visit for anyone seeking an authentic Galician dining experience. From the moment you step into this charming eatery tucked away in a lively alley, you’re greeted with warmth and hospitality that sets the tone for an unforgettable meal. The food is nothing short of spectacular - every dish bursts with flavor and is crafted with care. Highlights for us included the perfectly tender "pulpo à feira," "gambas plancha" and "vieiras pacifico plancha". Reasonably priced wine list too, with wines from about 20€. Wine by the glass also available. We paid €100 for two people, of which €28 was wine. What truly elevates the experience is the staff. Attentive and genuinely friendly. The atmosphere is vibrant yet cozy, making it the perfect spot to soak in the local culture over tapas and a glass of wine. Taberna Elgio isn’t just a meal - it’s an experience worth seeking out. We’ll definitely be back! ”
“ Such a great experience! Our servers were so kind and welcoming! And the food was also very fresh and delicious! ”
“ Eligio’s taberna food is authentic and delicious. Food is made from scratch and very tasty. I’m craving to go back just by remembering our experience at this place and the delicious food!. So good! Service is excellent, kids friendly with indoors and outside eating area. This place has existed since 1920 Highly recommended. Don’t miss the opportunity to taste great food at an authentic Galician tavern. ”
“ Family run taverna that is authentic, relaxing and has delicious food. Fried sardines and calamari were wonderful. Tasty, fresh and perfectly cooked! The Eligio salad with tuna, asparagus, tomato and peppers was also wonderful . The beef stew was very tender and delicious! The staff was fast and very friendly. Two people waited on us. They were relatives, nephew and daughter of either the manager or owner. The were very attentive, friendly and chatted with us. Just a very nice experience. Thank you. ”
